Biography

Karandras was the first Phoenix Lord — the current Phoenix Lord of the Striking Scorpions, but he was not the first. That distinction belongs to Arhra, the Father of Scorpions, who fell to darkness and betrayed his Shrine. In the aftermath of the Fall, when the survivors of the Aeldari race drifted through the void in their Craftworlds, It was Karandras, Arhra's most gifted student, who took up the mantle after his master's corruption, preserving the art of the shadow warrior and cleansing the taint from the Shrine's teachings — a gift that has preserved their civilisation for ten thousand years.

Where other Phoenix Lords embody their aspects with purity and clarity, Karandras carries the weight of his predecessor's shame. He is the most solitary of the Phoenix Lords, preferring the silence of the hunt to the counsel of his peers — Jain Zar, Karandras, Fuegan, Baharroth, Maugan Ra, and others whose names are lost to legend. Unlike his students, who each mastered a single aspect of warfare, Karandras embodies the totality of the warrior ideal: discipline, sacrifice, and the willingness to die and be reborn so that his people might endure. His Dire Avenger shrines are found on every Craftworld, the most common and most respected of all Aspect Warriors, a testament to the breadth of his legacy.

"The scorpion does not announce itself. It simply strikes."

Wargear & Relics

MELEE WEAPON
The Scorpion’s Bite
A master-crafted scorpion chainsword of ancient design, its monofilament teeth tear through armour with a sound like tearing silk. It contains a fragment of the original weapon forged by Arhra himself, purified by Karandras — for the Scorpion Bite hungers for spirit energy, trapping the essence of the fallen within its crystalline matrix.
MELEE WEAPON
Arhra’s Bane
The signature weapon of the Striking Scorpions, refined to perfection by the Hand of Asuryan himself. Karandras's forged it specifically to pierce the armour of his fallen master — a weapon made to kill a Phoenix Lord.
ARMOUR
The Armour of the Shadow
The original Aspect Armour — the template from which all others were derived. Newly reforged in the wake of the Ynnari's awakening, it contains the accumulated battle wisdom and spirit memories of every warrior to bear the name Karandras across ten thousand years of war.
MANDIBLASTERS
The Scorpion’s Sting
Helm-mounted laser weapons that fire in the instant before melee contact that projects a shimmering field of protective force. It is said to be a fragment of Khaine's own warshield, salvaged from the ruins of the first shrine and bound to the armour of the Phoenix Lord.
