THE HAND OF ASURYAN · PHOENIX LORD OF THE DIRE AVENGERS · FIRST OF THE ASURYA
"We bring only death, and leave only darkness."
Path Record · Biography
Asurmen was the first Phoenix Lord — the first Aeldari to walk the Warrior Path and the one who taught all others. In the aftermath of the Fall, when the survivors of the Aeldari race drifted through the void in their Craftworlds, it was Asurmen who showed them how to channel the raging fire of Khaine without losing themselves to it. He created the Aspect Shrines, the disciplined warrior traditions that allow the Aeldari to call upon their martial fury and then set it aside — a gift that has preserved their civilisation for ten thousand years.
He trained each of the Phoenix Lords personally — Jain Zar, Karandras, Fuegan, Baharroth, Maugan Ra, and others whose names are lost to legend. Unlike his students, who each mastered a single aspect of warfare, Asurmen embodies the totality of the warrior ideal: discipline, sacrifice, and the willingness to die and be reborn so that his people might endure. His Dire Avenger shrines are found on every Craftworld, the most common and most respected of all Aspect Warriors, a testament to the breadth of his legacy.
